As a vacation park, you want people to pay directly to you online as much as possible. This has to be safe for the guest and you want the payment to be processed automatically. To achieve this, you can work with a payment provider that sends the payments into your reservation system.

Paying safely and easily online

A payment provider, or a PSP: Payment Service Provider, processes payments that guests make to you. Guests receive a reservation confirmation immediately after they have made the payment. The link between the PSP and the reservation system allows you to see the current payment status of the reservation. Does your guest need to pay a later? Include a payment link in your confirmation, so the guest always has access to the payment environment. This way, a PSP in combination with a reservation system offers a lot of convenience for you and your guest.

Choose the right payment methods

You choose which payment methods you want to turn on at a PSP. For example iDEAL, Bancontact, PayPal, Apple Pay and Mastercard. A wide range of payment methods makes making a reservation very attractive to guests from different countries. It is therefore wise to select the most important payment methods for your target group. Do you want to attract German guests? Then make sure you use a German payment method, because they can't pay with iDEAL, which is popular in the Netherlands.

Here's an overview of the most common payment methods for the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. It is a must to offer these:

  • Netherlands: iDEAL, Apple Pay, Maestro;
  • Germany: Paypal, Giropay, SOFORT Banking;
  • Belgium: Bancontact, Belfius, KBC/CBC.

In most cases, you pay a small amount per payment method, per payment. In the portal of the PSP you have insight into which payment methods are often used. This way you can also adjust your chosen payment methods afterwards.

Trend: more and more online and via mobile

The use of a PSP is fully in line with the trend that can be seen: people are now paying online as much as possible to avoid direct contact on the reception desk. This enormous growth in online payments is 'thanks' to the Corona period. We also see that guests are paying more and more via their mobile phones. PSP Mollie even mentions an increase in the number of mobile payments by a factor of 1.5.

The fees per payment method are often transparent. Choose the payment methods that suit you and your target group. You can always adjust by enabling additional payment methods or disabling existing payment methods. Because the reservation system and the PSP communicate with each other, collecting payments from guests becomes a smooth process.
