Statement of Principles for API Access to the Booking Experts Platform
This document outlines the foundational principles guiding external entities ("Integrators") in accessing and utilizing the Booking Experts platform's Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). These principles aim to foster a collaborative ecosystem, enhance digital functionalities, and improve user/client services, while maintaining the platform's integrity and performance.
It is understood that:
- The Integrator possesses specialized expertise in developing solutions that interact with external systems and data interfaces.
- Booking Experts provides APIs to enable Integrators to connect their applications/services with the Booking Experts platform, expanding its capabilities and enriching the experience for its users and clients.
- Both parties commit to a cooperative working relationship based on the following shared understandings:
Core Principles for API Access:
- API Usage and Scope: The Integrator is granted a non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Booking Experts APIs solely for the purpose of managing user/client accounts, facilitating transactions, and delivering authorized value-added features as consented by the Connected Users/Clients.
- API Evolution & Deprecation: Booking Experts' APIs are subject to ongoing changes, upgrades, and potential deprecation at the sole discretion of Booking Experts. When an API endpoint is deprecated, Integrators are expected to migrate to the updated or alternative endpoints within a reasonable timeframe as communicated by Booking Experts. This ensures continued compatibility and access to the latest functionalities.
- Support for Integrators: Booking Experts will provide support related to API documentation and general API functionality. Specific support for the Integrator's own application or custom integrations falls under the Integrator's responsibility.
- Fair Use Policy: Integrators must adhere to a fair use policy regarding API consumption. This means using the APIs in a manner that does not:
- Place undue or excessive burden on the Booking Experts platform.
- Disrupt the service for other users or Integrators.
- Involve rapid, repetitive, or automated requests that are not part of legitimate application functionality (e.g., rate limiting will be enforced).
- Violate any terms of service or acceptable use policies.
- Compliance and Security: All developed solutions must adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices, including robust data protection and privacy standards. Explicit user consent will be obtained for data access or processing, and industry-standard security measures will be implemented to safeguard data. Solutions will not be used for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful activities, nor will they negatively impact the platform's performance or reputation. Unauthorized modification or reverse engineering of the platform's APIs or core system is prohibited.
- Data Protection: Both parties are committed to complying with all relevant data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR). The Integrator will maintain a clear privacy policy for its solution, promptly report any data breaches involving user data, and use Data exclusively for authorized purposes. Booking Experts reserves the right to audit compliance with data protection requirements upon reasonable notice.
- Intellectual Property: Booking Experts retains all intellectual property rights related to its platform, APIs, and associated materials. The Integrator retains all intellectual property rights to its developed solution, except for any intellectual property belonging to Booking Experts that is integrated within it. Neither party will use the other's branding without prior consent.
- Confidentiality: Non-public information shared between parties will be kept secure and not disclosed to third parties without prior consent, unless already public or legally required to be disclosed.
- General Terms: This statement encapsulates the core understanding for API access. Any modifications to these principles must be formally documented and agreed upon. This understanding is governed by the laws of the Netherlands, with disputes resolved by the courts of Amsterdam.
